Pure or real zari material enjoys the unique characteristics of being created with only pure silver. Originally embroidery was done by
using pure gold and silver threads. These threads were made by metal (gold and
silver blocks). The craftsmen melted them in small workshops at their homes and pressed them through iron sheets having
perforations to make thin wires.
The size of the perforations varied as per the requirement of the threads and other materials. Simple plain flat wire is called badla. Sometimes, the badla is wrapped around a thread and
is called kasab. The twisted wire is called nakshi. Dabka, Kora, Plain Gota, Sequins, Gijai and many more other articles can be made of Pure Silver. And mostly readily available.
